How to prepare the wireless micropones
These step-by-step instructions are for preparing and setting up wireless microphones for services and events. It covers handheld vocalist microphones, headset speaker microphones, and combo options, ensuring optimal performance and minimal interference. Follow these guidelines to guarantee reliable audio for singers, speakers, and presenters.
Prepare handheld vocalist microphones
Find out how many singers are in the band. There are three Senneheiser wireless microphones marked Hand 1, Hand 2, Hand 3, that are preconfigured as singing microphones, which is also the recommended maximum number of band singers—one lead singer and two background vocalists for each song.
Unscrew and slide open the battery compartment, and lift the battery cover.
For each microphone, take two fully charged AA batteries from the charging cradle marked FUNKMIK and insert into the battery compartment with the polarity as indicated on the battery compartment label.
Fold down the battery cover, and slide and screw the battery compartment shut.
Verify that the microphone is powered: its LCD screen should be on and the MIC button is lit red.
Prepare headset speaker microphones
Find out how many speakers are in the service. There are four Senneheiser wireless transmitters marked TS 1, TS 2, TS 3, TS 4, that are preconfigured as speaker microphones—by default, TS 1 is for a Music Director (who delivers spoken band instructions not heard on speakers but only on headphones and in-ear monitors), TS 2 is for the preacher, TS 3 is for the emcee, and TS 4 is for any additional presenter.
Pinch the buttons on both sides and open the battery compartment.
For each transmitter, take two fully charged AA batteries from the charging cradle marked FUNKMIK and insert into the battery compartment with the polarity as indicated on the battery compartment label.
Close the battery cover.
Verify that the transmitter is powered: its LCD screen should be on and the ON light is lit red.
For each transmitter also provide a headset microphone. This should be plugged into the transmitter only after the speaker has fitted the headset to his or her head, securely clipped the transmitter onto a belt or pocket, and routed the wire under the outer layer of clothing.
Prepare combo microphone
There is a wireless handheld microphone and a wireless transmitter pack that share a radio channel—both are marked Combo. Only one of these should be powered up, depending on whether another handheld or headset microphone is preferred. The handheld option can be used as an audience microphone (for introducing guests) or for prayers or Q&A from congregants. The headset option can be used for an additional presenter or interviewee.
Follow the instructions for handheld or headset microphones above to prepare one of these for use. Be sure to leave the other in the microphone drawer without power to avoid radio interference.
Clean-up
Gather all wireless microphones, transmitters, and headsets and bring them to the production desk.
Remove all rechargeable batteries from microphones and transmitters—a paper clip may make it easier to lift the first battery out of the battery compartment—and place in the charging cradle marked FUNKMIK.
Return the microphones and transmitters to their proper shadow board cutouts in the left cabinet.
Neatly wind the wire of each headset, hook both ear hoops together, and stow in the left cabinet.
Result
After completing these steps, the microphones will be powered, correctly paired, and ready for use. You should experience clear, uninterrupted audio during the service or event, with minimal risk of feedback or signal loss.
