Fair weather only!
In case of inclement weather we will reschedule, so stay tuned!
The picturesque lake Voralpsee is located in a secluded forest on the Grabserberg mountain and accessible by a 20-minute car or bus ride from the village of Grabs.
Leave early as there is limited parking space and it fills up fast!
From the Grabs village center follow the signs for Voralp/Grabserberg. Once you see the cheesery Alpsennerei Höhi on your right, keep left onto the public parking lot. The parking fee is CHF 6 for one day and requires the purchase of a dashboard ticket from the ticket machine at the entrance to the parking lot. Please be sure to have exact change on you as this machine accepts only coins.
We will organize car pools to help with the parking shortage and avoid parking costs.
The 12 bus to Voralp, Kurhaus leaves the Grabs, Post bus stop every two hours. We recommend catching the 11:04 am service and getting off at 11:23 am at Grabserberg, Höhi, which is just in front of the parking lot mentioned above.
For your return trip, buses to Grabs, Post will leave from Grabserberg, Höhi every hour beginning from 2:34 pm until 5:34 pm.
By hike or bike
For the fitness freaks, hiking or biking from Grabs to the lake is also an option. The 10 km uphill hike takes 2½ to 3 hours depending on your pace. If you are interested in this hike, stay tuned for more information if a group forms for this purpose. Cycling up this route takes around 1½ hours, climbing at an average 6% grade.
Even if you arrive by car or bus, be prepared for a 20-minute moderate downhill hike from the parking lot to our picnic site, and—of course—the moderate uphill hike when going back to the parking lot or bus stop.
