Recording & Livestream

How to set up recording & livestream

A reliable livestream and recording setup is essential for delivering high-quality video during church services. This guide explains how to configure the Blackmagic Design Constellation 2 M/E switcher with an iMac running ATEM Software Control and OBS. You’ll learn how to route video sources, manage audio, and integrate streaming software for a seamless broadcast experience.

  • Log in without password

  • Make sure ATEM Software Control is running

  • Set the output 5 to ME 2 – ON AIR

  • Open OBS

  • Both programs running

In the top section of ATEM (Block 2 / Program), make sure to switch to FILL.

  • Set up ATEM Mini Pro

Make sure all the buttons with a arrow label are active. In most cases, the VIDEO OUT in the bottom right needs to changed to PGM.

  • Turn on all camera viewfinders

Press the power button on the top right side of each of the three viewfinders.

  • Frame left camera for a semi-wide shot of the stage

Use zoom on right grip to zoom out to capture roughly the view shown here. Be sure to focus (green outlines mean in focus).

This camera should capture most of the band during songs, and speakers standing anywhere near the stage center.

  • Frame center camera for close-up of speaker

Use the right zoom handle to zoom in to approximately the view as shown. Be sure to focus. The switch on the side toggles between zoom and focus.

  • Start the live stream

Start the stream several minutes before the service. Recording will automatically start also.

  • Full screen slides

Use the IBF slide only / overlay scene to show the slide full screen to the live stream.

  • Transparent song lyric overlays

Use the IBF slide only / overlay scene also to show song lyrics overlay to the live stream.

  • Camera and slides side-by-side

For most of the service aside from praise & worship, IBF side by side might be the most useful scene.

  • Camera only

The IBF cam only scene is useful when the current slide may no longer be relevant and just a camera angle is preferred.
